Services
Clinic Atmosphere
It is our goal to insure you and your cat receive the best veterinary medical service available. From your cat's perspective, half the trauma of going to a veterinarian is encountering dogs---and all the frightening smells and sounds associated with them. Here at the Cat Clinic, we've eliminated that worry altogether. We offer a complete range of services, from healthy cat exams and vaccinations and behavioral consults to sophisticated diagnostic and surgical procedures on ill or geriatric cats. We also handle many 2nd opinion and referral cases from all around the Puget Sound region.
Surgery
When surgery is necessary, we perform it with stringent attention to the safety and comfort of your cat. We work with the most advanced equipment available and use the same techniques as a human hospital. And, of course, we wear the traditional surgical cap, gown and gloves and maintain a sterile operating room dedicated only for surgical procedures. Cats have an amazing capacity for healing under proper medical care. The best reward for us is watching our patients bounce back and return to life with their old vigor.
Dentistry
Cats' teeth need attention too. Usually cats won't tell you when their teeth or gums are sore. We’ll help you learn to clean your cat's teeth and to recognize potential problems. We are equipped for everything from dental x-rays to root canals. Often our patients are geriatric cats whose teeth are causing pain and a potential for serious infection. With our gas anesthetic protocol and pain control management we are able to successfully treat these older cats and restore them to good health.
Intensive Care
Cats in critical condition stay in a special Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Each cat is located in full view of the entire staff to ensure constant monitoring, and, if necessary, immediate emergency action. We have an oxygen cage as well reserved especially for our cats with asthma or heart disease. Also, if the need arises we can supply a blood transfusion to the cats we see who are anemic or have sustained blood loss from a traumatic injury.
Visiting Hours
We encourage clients to visit their ill cats and consider your visits part of the patient's medical therapy. Because we are usually busy treating many cats in need and have a large staff working in a small space we request you observe visiting guidelines that our receptionists will review with you at the front desk.
Morning Drop-off Service
If your appointment is in the middle of your busy day, simply drop off your cat in the morning, fill out our drop off form and come back at your convenience later in the day. We reserve this service for cats who have visited us before.
Boarding Information
Your cats will be given loving care while you're out of town by a kennel staff that lives at the Cat Clinic. We find that this way your cats get to know the same caretaker, which decreases their anxieties during their stay. During office hours your cats are under the watchful eyes of our licensed veterinary technicians and if the need arises we will provide medical care under doctor supervision after informing you at the emergency number you leave for us.
Emergencies
We always give priority to emergencies although there is an emergency fee. If your cat has an emergency during our office hours please call and let our receptionist know the nature of the emergency and we will see your cat right away. After-hour emergencies are referred to Emerald City Emergency Clinic located just three blocks north of our hospital. They can be reached at (206) 634-9000.
